There are just over five weeks remaining before the first race of the 2013 IndyCar season. Teams and drivers are gearing up for testing between now and then at various locations across the country. Here is a breakdown of the testing schedules.
February 12 at Fontana, CA
Scott Dixon and Helio Castroneves will take part in a one-day tire test for Firestone.
February 19 & 20 at Sebring International Raceway
As many as 17 drivers could participate in this test session.
Chevy drivers: Helio Castroneves, Will Power, AJ Allmendinger, Ryan Hunter-Reay, James Hinchcliffe, Marco Andretti, Tony Kanaan, Simona de Silvestro, and Oriol Servia.
Honda drivers: Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon, Charlie Kimball, Justin Wilson, Alex Tagliani, Josef Newgarden, Takuma Sato, Tristan Vautier, and Graham Rahal.
February 27 at Sonoma Raceway
Tony Kanaan, Simona de Silvestro, Oriol Servia, Simon Pagenaud, Sebastien Bourdais, Ed Carpenter, and JR Hildebrand.
IndyCar Spring Training at Barber Motorsports Park will take place March 11-13. This is the final time for cars on track before opening practice for the season-opening race at St Petersburg begins on March 22.
Sebring with a “g” on the end, right? Not a girl’s name at all. it’s the site of one of the oldest and most difficult endurance races in the hemisphere. Some say 12 at Sebring is much tougher than 24 at Daytona. I don’t care–I like’m both.
